April 2000 BMF – Mary Prankster……my newest fav…..thanks to a friend…(and who do you think his friend might be?)

Pretty sure MC first discovered Mary Prankster from a Napster download of her first single called “Tits and Whiskey”. This would have been a title she knew BMF would love and she sent the song over to him. He was hooked!

From the Wikipedia we find Mary Prankster was a local heavy out of Baltimore and her first radio single was “Tits and Whiskey” from album Blue Skies Over Dundalk , a 1:40 song which she called “my attempt at writing the most obnoxious song ever”, and which contained the word “fuck” thirteen times.

Turns out Mary was more than just a downloaded mp3 and we eventually would go see her in 2001 in Atlanta. Mary was a real cool girl and she gave us a lot of attention and we were both smitten with her and her band.

This is somewhat fast-forwarding on the timeline but it’s ok to say we struck up a life long love for Mary Prankster over the years.

Neko Case “Furnace Room Lullaby”

By this point we are both downloading and sharing music like crazy. He’s inspired me to seek out shows and I go to Echo Lounge on 3/22/2000 to see and hear Neko Case. It’s a small venue and the crowd is small so I get to meet her after the show. She’s sweet and nice and signs a CD for me. She inscribed it to “Jeff”. I’m thrilled and can’t wait to tell him. Later I sent him the signed CD as a gift and he would treasure it for the rest of his days. Now I’ll treasure it for the rest of mine. MC/5/24/2019

In 2000 Flamejob gives Miss Chicky the Cramps “I Wanna Get In Your Pants” in an effort to win her over.

I can say this..the band originally caught my ear with the song ” I wanna get in your pants” and then immediatley made me think of Miss Chicky who I somehow ICQ’ed a copy of in WAV format to her for listening….the rest is history…. BMF(2003)
