Our friend Blake and his band, The Young Antiques, are interviewed by Creative Loafing. The band headlined at the Earl this weekend. Sorry we missed it!

Welcome back to Take Five, a (semi-)weekly feature wherein we ask five Very Important Questions of a local band set to perform that week. Today it’s up-and-up pop-rockers Young Antiques, who headline the Earl this evening. Ladies and gentlemen, Blake Rainey.

1. Rock and roll is dead, right? I mean – right?

Doesn’t seem dead to me. I hear rock and roll all the time. In fact, I believe I saw him the other day.

2. Who’s your favorite Atlanta sports star, past or present?

Dominique Wilkins. He was excellent.

3. Your song “Fucked Up in Public” – deep. Are you guys fucked up right now?

Thanks! Very philosophical, we think. And sadly, no.

4. Who’s your favorite Atlanta rapper?

Benjamin Smoke.

5. Tell me a dirty joke.

The one I want to tell might be too dirty for CL. I will say it involves sodomy, Martha Stewart, and curtains.

(Thankfully, the Tiques’ Kevin Charney was less witholding:)

A young man went up to his father and asked him, “Can I have twenty bucks for a blow job?” His father said, “I don’t know. Are you any good?”
